Holy Grail Beauty | A Simple Skincare Regime

Updated: Apr 21, 2020

In my late teens/early twenties my mother's advice to me was to choose quality skincare over fashion and makeup and that's always stuck with me. I much prefer a natural look anyway... When it comes to my routine, I tend to take the less is more approach. I like a super simple skincare regime without compromising on results.

Today I'd like to introduce you to a new independent brand, Holy Grail Beauty Co. Over the past two months I took part in a case study trialing a couple of their products. Here's a roundup of what I used in addition to my current cleanser and toner:

The first product I tried was the Hibiscus & Pomegranate Detoxifying Clay Mask which is an anti-ageing and anti-acne mask and exfoliator that works to decongest pores, clear blackheads while also treating dark spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. This was a great double-duty product for me. I used this once a week. Admittedly exfoliators and masks were missing from my routine (see previous note on my super simple skincare routine)! but, I'm pleased to report instant results with this product. Although it has a tingly sensation once it's applied (which I've been advised is normal), the results were incredibly smooth skin immediately after use. I was pleasantly surprised!

The second product I tried was the 5in1 Rejuvenating Facial Serum which is an all-in-one product supercharged with 5 active ingredients. It's designed to treat a multitude of issues and protect your skin from damage caused by exposure to pollution, smoke and UV rays. It contains vitamin c, hyaluronic acid and a complex of 3 anti-ageing peptides which are effective at preventing and treating fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration. The serum is a gentle formula which makes it safe for use under the eyes. I had zero irritation which is great since I am quite sensitive but more importantly, this product has helped smooth out some of my fine lines.

The third and final product I tried was the Retinol Repair Skin Crème. This is a rich yet lightweight formula. Moisturising but non-greasy, absorbs quickly and is mattifying on application - perfect for my oily to combination skin type. Again, I did not experience any irritation. The cream is considered good for most skin types - from dry to normal, to combination and even oily skin. It's is enriched with a gentle form of retinol that works to prevent premature ageing. Exactly what I need.

Overall I've seen positive results with Holy Grail Beauty. I began the case study with what I think is hormonal acne and ended with relatively clear skin. It's also important for me to share with you that I did also reduce my sugar intake after going on a 'binge' (think cakes and biscuits - all of that unhealthy stuff)! I've read numerous articles about sugar which is said to cause inflammation and for me this means breakouts! I do believe the foods you eat indeed impact the quality of your skin so in my opinion your skincare regime begins with what you feed yourself. Choose wisely I say... On that note, I'd love to know what your skincare routine looks like? Do you eat certain foods for your skin? What skincare products are you currently loving?

Visit Holy Grail Beauty for more skincare information and tips. Prices start from as little as £7.99 for a sample pack. *Items were gifted but I was not obliged to post about them.
